Our First Shiloh Shepherd - Her first week at home (November 2007)

Click on a picture for a more detailed look.

Sondra got to hold "purple girl" (soon to be Shavora) after her LER (evaluation) at 11:00am up in Bothel, WA. the day we took her home.

We left Laura's house at around 5:00pm that day, 11/23 after Shavora had a bath and her nails trimmed. (Boy, we appreciated that bath for the long drive home. Shavora smelled pretty good after that bath.)

Shavora rode in a crate, and cried a lot until around 6:30pm. From then on it was a quiet ride home.

When we got home at 8:30pm, I put her on the ground and she pottied. We took some time to let her get acquainted with her new suroundings and then put her in the crate next to our bed around 10:00pm. She slept until 5:00am, and I took her out.
Shavora is ready for a nap at Sondra's feet 11/24.

Shavora was exposed to lots of new things this day. It took her a couple times to master the steps. I kept encouraging her and letting her know she was ok. She did pretty good with the house training.

She had two times she missed the paper in the corner. I picked her up and took her outside and she finished up out there. On day two she broke through the gate we had up to the back hall and cried to get outside. We hope she keeps that up. Today (11/26) it started raining and I had to force her to come down the steps. I did have an umbrella, but she wanted back in. Eventually she did her duty.
Shavora meets Chrisy. They are coming to an understanding. Chrisy wants to be friends but puts Shavora in her place if she starts getting rough.

Shavora also got to meet the goats. At first she was shy and stayed right at Sondra's feet. The second time she went out with the goats, they started running from her and that was it. Shavora chased them and actually started to herd. You could see her try to anticipate which ways the goats were going and then head them off. We had to finally break it up. We have some training ahead of us there.
Emily got to meet Shavora late 11/24. Shavora sometimes sees Emily as a chew toy.
Emily learned to tone down her energy enough to have Shavora fall asleep on her.
11/26/07 - Shavora is getting more and more comfortable after 3 days in her new home.
11/28/07 - Shavora played in the rain that was mixed with snow earlier in the afternoon.

11/28/07 - As the day wore on the snow piled up. Shavora got to check it out. She even helped me build a snowman.
11/30/07 - Sondra went shopping. Shavora got to ride in a cart outside the store.
